Suspending the Chat Feature

I regret to announce that, for now at least, I’m discontinuing the program of chats on TMT Advisor podcasts. The program has not developed the interest that I’d hoped it would, and at the current level of engagement it’s not a reasonable way for me to invest my time, or to expect others to do that.

Some of you have suggested that the Mastodon platform isn’t the ideal way to host these chats, and that engagement via the platform is a barrier to creating any value. I don’t disagree; I believe that a “groups” facility is essential for the kind of thing I’d like to do, but that feature is still a requested one rather than an implemented one for Mastodon.

I’m going to monitor the progress of group implementation in Mastodon, and if I see that the feature is available and useful, then I’ll restart my chat initiative. I plan to stay on Mastodon, but not to schedule chats, in the meantime.
